Living in Downtown Portland Has Wonderful Benefits
Downtown city life might not fit everyone’s personality, but for those who are drawn to it, downtown Portland real estate provides some nice advantages.
One of the best benefits to living in the heart of downtown Portland is how easy transportation is to and from the Portland downtown and within it. For most people living in town, walking, biking, and public transit are the preferred mode of getting from one place to another. Of course, you don’t need a car or a bike if you use Portland’s public transportation system. But the town is certainly flexible and functions well with all methods of transportation.
Walking to your destination is one way to get healthy, and Portland is very definitely pedestrian-friendly. In fact, Portland city blocks were constructed quite a bit smaller than those in some other cities (200 feet instead of a typical 300 to 800 feet), making it a short stroll to Portland’s many corner restaurants and shops. If your place of work is downtown, you may actually be able to sell your car for good.
The downtown Portland area has some pretty fantastic residential areas where you can buy a Portland loft and live in the core of the city in style. Depending of course upon where your job is located, you may end up within close walking distance from it.
There are quite a few good neighborhoods you should consider if you want to live in a loft in Portland, but one of the more popular places is The Pearl District. It’s popular because of the many shopping amenities as well as easy to access transportation, The Pearl District is also where many classy art galleries and upscale businesses are located.
