Purchasing a Domain Name Tips

A domain names search can be challenging to whoever is doing it for the first time. Doing a domain names search the correct way can mean the difference between pulling hundreds of visitors a month versus thousands of visitors a month. Here are a few points to definitely consider when doing a domain names search.

First, you should produce a list of great names you would like before doing your domain names search. Consider what keywords best encompass your web site and try to incorporate one or two of them or more within your domain name. Having your primary keyword in your domain name hands you a boost in rankings in Google’s eyes when it comes to your domain.

Try and produce different forms of your preferred spelling and order prior to doing your domain names search. Be prepared to go through your list learning that all of those domain names are previously taken.

If at the time of your domain names search you discover that almost all of your ideas are already taken, you can try inserting dashes between the words and conducting your domain search like that.

When buying a domain name, it is also the best idea, in my educated opinion, to normaly try and buy a ".com" domain. If your first choice is not available in .com, you can try adding a dash between your words or you can try and go for a ".net" or a ".org". But try and get a .com if you’re able. It is the business norm.

Once again, when buying a domain name for your company, try and buy a .com domain. If the one you had your heart set on is not available you can try placing dashes between the words, or you can change the wording around a bit. Or you can even try adding short words at the end, like "fast" or "info" or "now". So that would make it "acmeconstructionnow.com."

Another consideration when buying a domain name is locality. You can attach the name of your state, your city or town. This will even further focus you within Googles eyes for placement in the search engines.

For an extra lift in Google’s view, try to fit your keyword into your domain name as the first word or two. Like if I have a business by the name "Johnnies House of Flowers", I could try and purchase domain name in that same order. Or I could try to purchase "flowersbyjohnny.com". Purchasing a domain name like flowersbyjohny will give you a boost in Google’s eyes because your keyword has been placed first in your domain name.

At times you will see when you go to purchase domain name that all of your choices are already taken. When this happens you can always purchase a .net domain or try to get a .org domain.
