San Diego always has great weather, so it is hard to go wrong any time of year.
October is a bit late for anywhere that is more Northerly, but New Orleans is likely still very nice as is Florida and the Gulf. That said, October is still hurricane season, so you will need to take that into account.
If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, Playa del Carmen Mexico has some nice shopping, beaches and is 1 hour from both Cancun and Cozumel.

Panama City Beach is pretty nice. I used to like October when I lived at the beach; it’s out of the tourist season so it’s reasonably quiet. Great sunsets over the Gulf – very relaxing.

Where do you live? My husband and I went to Kennedy Space Center in Florida. What a gold mine! The sun is great, the place is exciting and there are 2 great movies, 1 narrated by Tom Hanks, and the other by Tom Cruise. An astronaut speaks twice a day. There is a space simulator ride that challenges Disney World. This is also near Disney World and other theme parks.
Hershey Park has chocolate massages and other nice things to do.
If you are near Texas, try Corpus Christi, it was beautiful. There are many fun things to see in the US! The sky is the limit!!
